Experiences from Our Clients

FA

Fatimah Amin

Kuala Lumpur · Syariah Counsel

"I came to Ashvane during a difficult period involving an inheritance dispute. What struck me was how much time Nadia took to explain the faraid process before any paperwork was involved. I never felt rushed or uninformed, and the matter was resolved to a fair conclusion."

Tan Li Wei

Petaling Jaya · Environmental Law

"We engaged Rajan and the team to help us navigate our EIA submission. It was the first time we had gone through the process and it was genuinely complicated. The Ashvane team made it manageable — walking us through each stage without condescension and flagging risks before they became problems."

Rajesh Subramaniam

Shah Alam · ADR

"Our company had a long-running commercial dispute that was beginning to affect operations. Siew Wen helped us structure a mediation approach and prepared us very thoroughly. Kuala Lumpur · Syariah Counsel

"Handling family law matters in Syariah court is not something I wanted to do without proper support. The team at Ashvane, particularly Nadia, made the process understandable and kept me informed throughout. I felt I was making decisions from a place of knowledge rather than anxiety."

Chong Kai Ming

Subang Jaya · Environmental Law

"We needed help understanding our emissions reporting obligations under new regulations. Rajan gave us a clear framework and helped us set up internal processes that we could maintain without needing ongoing legal intervention. That was exactly what we were looking for — something sustainable rather than a one-time fix."

Ahmad Yusoff

Klang Valley · ADR

"A partnership dispute that had been dragging for months was resolved through mediation with Ashvane's support in under six weeks. The fee was clearly communicated from the start, and what we paid reflected the quality of the preparation and guidance we received. A genuinely good experience in a difficult situation."

Case Summaries

How Matters Unfolded

Syariah Law — Inheritance Matter

Resolving a Multi-Party Faraid Dispute

The Situation

A family in Kuala Lumpur came to us with an unresolved faraid matter following a parent's passing. Multiple beneficiaries held different views on the distribution, and communications had broken down.

Our Approach

We advised on the applicable Syariah inheritance principles, prepared a distribution analysis, and facilitated a structured family consultation that allowed each party to understand the framework.

The Outcome

Agreement on the distribution was reached within eight weeks. All parties received a clear summary of the final position. No court proceedings were required.

"What helped most was understanding the principles behind the distribution, not just being told what the outcome was." — Client

Environmental Law — Compliance Review

Supporting an EIA Submission for a Construction Project

The Situation

A property developer in the Klang Valley was preparing an environmental impact assessment submission for a mid-scale development and was uncertain about several requirements under Malaysia's Environmental Quality Act.

Our Approach

We reviewed the draft EIA documentation, identified gaps in the regulatory response sections, and advised on the supplementary materials required for the Department of Environment submission.

The Outcome

The submission was completed on schedule with no requests for additional information from the DOE. The client subsequently retained Ashvane on an ongoing advisory basis for future projects.

ADR — Commercial Dispute

Mediating a Long-Running Partnership Disagreement

The Situation

Two business partners had reached an impasse over the direction and profit-sharing of a jointly held enterprise. Correspondence had become adversarial, and both were considering formal litigation.

Our Approach

We prepared each party separately before joint mediation sessions, helping them articulate their underlying interests rather than only their stated positions. This shifted the dynamic from confrontational to problem-solving.

The Outcome

A structured agreement was reached across four sessions. The partnership was restructured rather than dissolved, and both parties described the outcome as workable. Total time: five weeks.
